SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH AND TECHNOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT

Scientific research is important in the sense that it is a tool in which scientific challenges that have human consequences are analysed with the aim of finding solutions.

Today industrialisation is the cornerstone of economic development and nations that have invested in research in the field science and technology have benefited a lot and have become leaders in all field of human development.

In today's information society, the discussions and development is around Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs).
Industrialisation is still important but its from previous development paradigm.

Without research human problems are mystified, concealed or even faked and any attempt to solve them in this age of economic hit men, is wastage of resources. Research is necessary for adoption and indeed development of appropriate technology to mitigate human problems such as health, agriculture, environment, engineering, information technology and scientific education.

These Faculties and Schools constitute the Barotseland National University, the officers of which are Lecturers and research Fellows at the University.

These are expert advisors to the respective State Department in Government on matters pertaining to their spheres of speciality.

Engineering
Mining, Mechanical, Electrical, Metallurgy
Conduct relevant research in Engineering for the development of Barotseland.

Environment
Conduct relevant research in Environment and natural resources for the development of Barotseland.

Medicine
Conduct relevant research in Health for the development of Barotseland.

Agriculture
Conduct relevant research in Agriculture for the development of Barotseland

Veterinary
Conduct relevant research in for the development of Veterinary and live stokes in Barotseland.

Scientific Education
This department shall be responsible for aiding the curriculum development centre under the Education State Department on matters of science education in Barotseland schools.

It shall also be responsible for Lozi scientific nomenclature/terminology formulation and adoption for use in schools, the public and the media. This presupposed the existence of the urgent need to adopt and domesticate science in local national language for proper scientific development and safety. Socially this move will enable consolidate Lozi as an official national language.

In this vain and being cognisance of the fact that Lozi has same origins as tswana and Sotho of Botswana and south Africa respectively, it should be the mandate of this department to collaborate with similar institution in nomenclature formulation in order to have a regional standards in this field.

Information technology
This department shall be mandated to ensure that Barotseland Citizens citizens understand, are trained in the use of, and have easy access to ICT services.

Among other things it shall have the followings functions. Conduct relevant research in IT for the development of Barotseland.

Working in liaison with the scientific education department they should ensure the adoption and use of Lozi in basic IT gadgets such as phones, computers, and Automated teller machines etc.

It is worth noting and appreciating the work undertaken by a group of Lozis in South Africa who made sure that Lozi is on Google.

The experience they gained in undertaking this project to fruition is something we can utilise.
